My name is Kateřina and I´ve been teaching English for three years. I studied English and Spanish language and literature and teaching English and Spanish for secondary schools at Masaryk University in Brno. I also spent six months in a very nice city Cádiz in Spain where I studied Spanish and English with the Erasmus programme. Now I live in a small village near Olomouc and I can provide classes of these two languages in Olomouc and its surroundings (Šternberk, Uničov, Litovel, …). I like to prepare activities that will make you speak English well even without your even noticing it. Also, I concentrate on a positive and friendly atmosphere in classes and I try to encourage everybody not to be afraid to speak even though you sometimes make a mistake – this is normal process of learning and it is a natural thing. However, a surprising number of students have met somebody in their education who made them feel bad about saying something not completely correct and it is difficult to make these students feel confident about their speech again. So I concentrate on this situation and I use a set of activities to especially hep these students to start speaking fluently and without stress again.

My hobbies include reading, singing and playing guitar and piano, being outdoors and ballroom dancing. I have always wanted to have a garden and now I have one in Haná, And as I come from the Jeseníky mountains, I´m still surprised by the speed of which everything grows on this piece of land, So now a lot of my free time includes trying (not very successfully) to cultivate the jungle in my garden. In the past I was a leader of small scout girls and I organized events with the Brontosaurus movement and these experiences gave me a lot of material for language lessons – I modify it a little and many adult students like to play these language games and they are very enthusiastic about it and then they say they also play these games at home with their partners/children/friends or in a pub, … and I´m happy that they like the activities so much that they do it at home in their free time just because they have fun.

Jmenuji se Kateřina a výuce angličtiny se věnuji tři roky. Vystudovala jsem anglický a španělský jazyk a literaturu a také učitelství angličtiny a španělštiny pro střední školy na Masarykově univerzitě v Brně. Také jsem strávila šest měsíců studijním pobytem v krásném španělském městě Cádiz. Nyní bydlím v male vesničce blízko Olomouce a vyučuji angličtinu a španělštinu v Olomouci a okolí (Šternberk, Uničov, Litovel, …). Ráda připravuji aktivity, při kterých začnete mluvit kvalitní angličtinou, aniž byste si toho příliš všimli J. Zaměřuji se na pozitivní a přátelskou atmosféru ve třídě a snažím se povzbudit všechny studenty, aby se nebáli mluvit (i když to znamená, že občas udělají chybu). Udělat chybu je součástí normálního procesu učení a je to přirozená věc. Bohužel, překvapivě mnoho studentů se ve svém vzdělávání setkalo s pedagogem, který je za každou chybu penalizoval; a není lehké tyto studenty znovu rozmluvit. Zaměřuji se tedy na tento stav a snažím se vrátit studentům sebevědomí v jejich projevu a také jim umožnit vyjádřit se bez stresu z chyby.

Mezi mé koníčky patří četba, zpěv a hraní na kytaru a klavír, pobyt v přírodě a společenské tance. Vždycky jsem chtěla mít svou malou zahrádku a nyní ji mám na Hané – jelikož ovšem pocházím z Jeseníků, nepřestává mě překvapovat rychlost, s jakou tady všechno živé roste. Mnoho svého volného času tedy věnuji (dost často marné) snaze zkultivovat džungli na zahrádce. V minulosti jsem vedla malé dívky (světlušky) ve skautském oddíle a také jsem organizovala akce s Hnutím Brontosaurus. Tyto zkušenosti mi poskytly mnoho materiálu pro mé hodiny, některé aktivity jsem pouze lehce upravila pro potřeby jazykové výuky a mnoho i dospělých studentů se velmi rádo účastní těchto aktivit a her. Občas je dokonce hrají doma se svými partnery/dětmi/přáteli v hospodě, … Jsem velmi ráda, že se jim tyto aktivity líbí natolik, že se jim věnují i ve svém volném čase, a tak užívají angličtinu prostě jen proto, že je to baví.
