Hi,

My name is Michelle and I'm a native of the New York City area- Queens/Long Island. I attended college/university in Buffalo, NY where I majored in Communication and then went back to New York City for five years to work in the television industry. I've always had a curious mind. I am always craving learning about new places and culture, outside of my own home and upbringing.  In 2005 I headed west to Los Angeles- as I was able to transfer to another job within the Disney company. From there I ended up in Arizona- Tucson and Phoenix. While in Arizona I worked at a local television station selling commercial advertising, received a Masters in Elementary Education from Arizona State University and worked in the Fraud/Security area for Discover Credit Card.

After a trip to Europe in 2019 I realized I needed to see more of the world on a permanent basis. I researched opportunities about teaching English, and learned that Prague had a market for English teachers. I spent a week in Prague in late February 2020, right before the pandemic hit. Fortunately I was able to get back to the United States- February 27th, 2020- just days before most transatlantic flights were suspended. I feel that trip was "meant to be",  because I knew at the end of it that I wanted to move to Prague. 

Less than two years later, finally, I was back in Prague. Few things make me happier now than learning about this new culture and city. It's no exaggeration, I truly truly enjoy it. I'm a people person- I love getting to know new people, but I also enjoy my alone time. 

I am happy and grateful that I'm here teaching English, as well as learning all I can about Czech language, history and culture.

jmenuji se Michelle a jsem rodačka z oblasti New York City – Queens/Long Island. Navštěvovala jsem univerzitu v Buffalu, NY, kde jsem se specializovala na komunikaci, a poté jsem se vrátila na pět let do New Yorku pracovat v televizním průmyslu. Vždycky jsem měla zvědavou mysl. Vždy toužím po poznávání nových míst a kultury, mimo svůj domov a výchovu. V roce 2005 jsem zamířila na západ do Los Angeles, protože jsem získala novou práci ve společnosti Disney. Odtud jsem skončila v Arizoně – Tucsonu a Phoenixu. V Arizoně jsem pracovala v místní televizní stanici prodávající komerční reklamu, získala jsem magisterský titul v základním vzdělávání na Arizonské státní univerzitě a pracovala jsem v oblasti podvodů/bezpečnosti pro kreditní společnosti Discover.

Po cestě do Evropy v roce 2019 jsem si uvědomila, že potřebuji vidět více ze světa. Zkoumala jsem možnosti výuky angličtiny a zjistila jsem, že Praha má trh práce pro učitele angličtiny. Strávila jsem týden v Praze koncem února 2020, těsně před vypuknutím pandemie. Naštěstí se mi podařilo dostat se zpět do Spojených států – 27. února 2020 – jen několik dní předtím, než byla většina transatlantických letů pozastavena. Cítím, že ten výlet byl mým osudem, protože jsem na jeho konci věděla, že se chci přestěhovat do Prahy.

O necelé dva roky později jsem byla konečně zpět v Praze. Jen málo věcí mě teď dělá šťastnější než poznávání této nové kultury a města. Nepřeháním, opravdu mě to baví. Jsem člověk, který rád poznává nové lidi, ale také si užívám čas o samotě.

Jsem šťastná a vděčná, že zde učím angličtinu a zároveň se učím vše o českém jazyce, historii a kultuře.
